Matthias Kronfuss
Set Designer
Matthias Kronfuss is a multi-disciplinary theatre designer born and based in Vienna, Austria.
He began his career as a scenographer in the London-based studio of renowned Canadian set designer Michael Levine, and worked at world-class opera venues as an assistant designer.
His first production as Designer was La Clemenza di Tito (directed by Laurence Dale) at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater. A frequent guest at Salzburger Landestheater, he has designed sets for theatre (Biografie: Ein Spiel, Pumuckl in 2022; Wickie in 2023) and ballets (Vom Lichten und Dunklen 2023; Sleeping Beauty and Fridas Welt in 2024).
In season 24/25, Matthias made his house debuts with two masterpieces of British Opera: Maxwell Davis’ The Lighthouse at Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Britten’s The Turn of the Screw at Oper Halle.
